Creativity? At Work?

I recently read an article about the importance – the necessity – of creativity in the work place. “Developing a Creative Work Culture” by Audrey Watters discusses an IBM survey of CEOs proving that “creativity – more than rigor, management discipline, integrity and even vision – was the most important competency skill for effective leadership.”

What’s more, the article points to a modern “creativity crisis.”

Tony Schwartz, a CEO and author of a Harvard Business Review article “Six Secrets to Creating a Culture of Innovation”, discusses “five stages of creative thinking: first insight, saturation, incubation, illumination and verification.”

For myself, I definitely feel the U.S. and economy could be bolstered by creativity. The future does require innovation to get us there.
