On Keyword Density vs. Keyword Ranking

Readers may not know – Keyword density represents the frequency of a keyword on a website page. While keyword ranking is about what keywords you are coming up for in Google and how high. FYI keyword density rarely correlates to valuable keyword ranking, particularly with long-tail, because keyword density is based on head terms you use most in body copy instead of the strategic long-tail keywords targeting your industry you want to rank for most. Better than keyword density (at least for clients for whom professionals do SEO work) is to look at the browser page titles (because those contain specific keyword phrases & they usually rank well). Many analytics tools will give you info about keyword density or ranking so it’s important to realize what specifically and how different they are.
